Ebira Queens, the future of Kogi State - Moses Bako Nagogo
The President of the Northern Amateur Women Football Association (NAWFA), Moses Nagogo Bako, has described Ebira Queens as a team with immense potential, tipping them as the future of women’s football in Kogi State.
Bako, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Soccer Queens and the main organiser of the Kwara State First Lady Pre-Season Championship, made this known while assessing the team’s performance in Ilorin.
Ebira Queens paraded the smallest squad in the competition, a limitation that significantly tested their depth and endurance throughout their matches. Despite losing both games they have played so far, the team has earned praise for their composure, tactical discipline, and style of play.
According to Bako, results do not fully reflect the quality and promise within the squad. He noted that the players demonstrated a high level of understanding, organization, and confidence on the ball—traits that are rare for a relatively young and developing team.
“They may have lost two out of two, but their composure and tactical approach stand out. This is a team with clear identity and direction,” he said.
He further emphasized that continuity will be crucial to their growth, expressing confidence that if the squad remains together over the next two years, they will develop into a strong and competitive side.
Bako projected that with proper nurturing and consistency, Ebira Queens could rise to challenge established teams such as Confluence Queens, the Kogi State women’s team.
Observers at the Kwara State First Lady Pre-Season Championship have also echoed similar sentiments, highlighting Ebira Queens as one of the most promising teams in the tournament despite their current results.
While victories may still be ahead, one thing is becoming increasingly clear—Ebira Queens are building something special, and the future of Kogi State women’s football may well belong to them.
