El-Kanemi Warriors chase historic fourth President Federation Cup title
Defending champions El-Kanemi Warriors will be aiming to strengthen their legacy when they take on Ikorodu City in the 2026 President Federation Cup final on Saturday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
The Maiduguri based club is targeting a fourth Federation Cup title, having previously lifted Nigeria's oldest domestic trophy in 1991, 1992 and 2024.
Victory would not only extend the club's impressive record in the competition but also secure a return to continental football.
Among the players carrying the club's ambitions is dependable defender Azeez Yusuf, who is hoping to add another major achievement to an already memorable spell with the Warriors. Yusuf was part of the squad that won the 2024 Federation Cup and also played a key role in helping the club regain promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League that same year.
A second Federation Cup triumph would further cement the young centre back's growing reputation as one of the club's reliable performers. Since joining El-Kanemi Warriors, Yusuf has become an integral figure in the team's defensive unit, earning praise for his composure, consistency and leadership under head coach Kabiru Dogo.
The former Kwara Football Academy graduate, who also featured for ABS Ilorin before moving to Maiduguri, has continued his steady rise and will be expected to marshal the Warriors' defence against an ambitious Ikorodu City side seeking its first major national title.
For El-Kanemi Warriors, Saturday's final represents another opportunity to reinforce their status among Nigeria's most successful cup sides. For Yusuf, it is a chance to further write his name into the club's history by helping the defending champions retain the trophy and secure another place on the continental stage.
