The Enyimba officials reportedly arrested following Monday’s disruption at the club’s training ground in Aba, have been released.

The development follows the intervention of Enyimba chairman and former Super Eagles captain, Kanu Nwankwo, who reportedly facilitated the release of the affected personnel on self-recognition.

The personnel were reportedly taken away by Rapid Response Squad (RRS) officials after the club’s Sporting Director, Daniel Eke, arrived at the training ground accompanied by security operatives.

The incident had disrupted Enyimba’s preparations for Wednesday’s Nigeria Premier Football League clash against Sporting Lagos.

Details surrounding the circumstances that led to the intervention and subsequent arrests remain unclear, while neither the police nor Enyimba had, at the time of filing, issued a detailed official statement explaining the development.

The release, however, has brought some immediate relief as Enyimba turn their attention back to their difficult start to the 2026/27 NPFL campaign.

The nine-time Nigerian champions are yet to record a point after three matches, following defeats to Niger Tornadoes, Doma United and Inter Lagos.

Their latest setback came on Sunday when Inter Lagos secured a 1-0 victory in Aba through Ezekiel Moses’ 18th-minute strike.

Enyimba are scheduled to face Sporting Lagos on Wednesday, with the team expected to resume preparations following Monday’s disruption.

The Southeast club will now hope to put the off-field episode behind them and concentrate on securing their first league points of the season.

The latest development also places renewed attention on the need for stability around the club as Enyimba seek to navigate both their sporting challenges and reported internal issues.

For now, the release of the affected personnel allows attention to return to Wednesday’s fixture and the team’s efforts to arrest its difficult opening run.
