Falconets cruise past Benin, maintain perfect record at 2025 WAFU-B U20 Girls Cup
Nigeria’s U20 women’s national team, the Falconets, continued their impressive form at the 2025 WAFU Zone B U20 Girls’ Cup with a commanding 3–0 victory over hosts Benin Republic at the Adjohoun Stadium on Sunday.
Coach Moses Aduku’s side, who began their campaign with a 3–1 win over Ghana, were in total control from start to finish, showcasing attacking flair, tactical discipline, and clinical finishing.
The early pressure paid off in the 15th minute when the lively Ramotalahi Kareem expertly controlled a lofted pass from Kesseina Oyijovwi, glided past two defenders, and lofted the ball over the goalkeeper to hand Nigeria a deserved lead. The Falconets went into the break 1–0 up after dominating possession and dictating the tempo.
Kareem doubled her tally in the 59th minute, capping off a flowing move from the right flank with a precise low strike that left the Benin goalkeeper rooted. The Falconets sealed the win in stoppage time when Precious Oscar pounced on a loose ball from a corner and calmly slotted home to make it 3–0.
For her dazzling display and brace, Kareem Ramotalahi was named Woman of the Match, standing out as the creative spark and finisher-in-chief for Nigeria.
With the result, Nigeria remain top of the group with six points and a +5 goal difference, while hosts Benin are yet to register a point after two losses. The Falconets will next face Ghana on November 11 before wrapping up their group campaign with a rematch against Benin on November 12.
