Flamingos captain Chidi Harmony: No pressure for Niger clash
Nigeria U-17 women’s national team captain Harmony Chidi says the Flamingos are under no pressure as they prepare to begin their campaign at the 2026 WAFU-B U-17 Girls Cup in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Flamingos are scheduled to face Niger in their opening fixture of the regional competition as they seek a positive start to their campaign and valuable competitive experience ahead of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Harmony said the players remain focused on the task ahead and are determined to give their best throughout the tournament.
The young captain also expressed confidence in the team’s preparation, stressing that the players have remained committed to their work as they get ready for the opening encounter.
“We are not under any pressure. We are focused and ready to give our best throughout the tournament,” Harmony said.
Harmony acknowledged the efforts of the coaching crew and other members of the technical staff, saying their support has helped create an environment in which the players can concentrate on their football.
According to the captain, the team has been working hard during preparations and will approach the competition with determination rather than allowing external expectations to affect their performance.
The Flamingos are using the WAFU-B tournament as part of their build-up to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, making the competition an important opportunity for the players to test themselves against regional opposition.
