Friday Etim named Danish Superliga player of the month for September

FC Midtjylland striker Friday Etim has been named the Danish Superliga Player of the Month for September 2026 following an impressive run of form in front of goal.

The Nigerian forward scored three goals and provided an assist in the Danish top flight during the month, while also finding the net in Midtjylland’s Danish Cup clash against Sundby BK on September 10.

His impressive performances earned him his first individual award since making his mark in Denmark’s top division.

Etim saw off competition from FC Copenhagen duo Diant Ramaj and Asger Sørensen to claim the monthly prize.

The 24-year-old expressed his delight at receiving the award, while crediting his goalscoring form for playing a key role in Midtjylland’s productive month.

“I’m happy with the award. It’s been a good September for me. Of course, you’re happy to score three goals as a striker because that’s the way I can help the team, among other things,” Etim was quoted as saying by the official FC Midtjylland website.

“Now it’s about continuing, because there is still a lot of work for us to do. I hope and believe that this is just the beginning.”

Etim featured for 334 minutes during September and averaged a goal or assist every 83 minutes.

He also recorded the most shots on target (nine), ground duels won (25) and sprints (96) among all players who featured in the Superliga during the month.

The award further highlights Etim’s growing influence at Midtjylland as he continues to establish himself in Danish football.
