Futsal AFCON 2026: Holders Morocco crush Egypt to set up Angola final date, close in on fourth straight title
Hosts and defending champions Morocco delivered a commanding performance to defeat Egypt 6-0 in Monday’s semi-final of the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, setting up a final showdown against Angola.
The emphatic victory at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Hall in Rabat kept Morocco on course for a fourth consecutive continental title as they continued their impressive campaign on home soil.
Morocco wasted little time asserting their authority, with Bilal Bakkali opening the scoring in the ninth minute before Ismail Amazal doubled the advantage a minute later.
Amazal struck again in the 15th minute to give the hosts a commanding 3-0 lead before half-time, leaving Egypt with a difficult task against the tournament favourites.
The defending champions maintained their intensity after the restart, and Bakkali scored his second goal of the match in the 22nd minute to extend Morocco’s advantage.
Soufian Charraoui then took centre stage in the closing stages, finding the net in the 31st minute before completing his brace in the 38th minute to seal the 6-0 triumph.
The result confirmed Morocco’s place in Wednesday’s final, where they will face Angola, who produced a remarkable comeback in the first semi-final to defeat Algeria 3-2.
Algeria had established a two-goal lead through Mathieu Hammad and Ait Hamadouche, but Angola responded after the interval with goals from Aderito Santos, Hornes Do Santo and Francisco Gabriel Chico to complete the turnaround.
The final is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, at 8:00 p.m. Moroccan time at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Hall in Rabat.
Egypt will face Algeria in the third-place match earlier in the day, with kick-off scheduled for 5:00 p.m. local time.
Morocco’s latest victory reinforces their status as the team to beat in African futsal. The hosts are seeking to retain the trophy and extend their run of consecutive continental championships in front of their home supporters.
For Angola, the final represents an opportunity to upset the defending champions after demonstrating resilience and attacking determination to overcome Algeria from two goals down.
With the title and qualification implications of the tournament adding to the stakes, Wednesday’s final promises a compelling contest between Morocco’s established dominance and Angola’s ambition to claim continental glory.
