Galatasaray President fires back at salary rumours amid Victor Osimhen's link
President of Galatasaray S.K., Dursun Özbek, has firmly dismissed claims suggesting that the Turkish champions are struggling to meet their financial obligations to players.
Reports circulating in sections of the Turkish media had raised concerns about delayed salary payments within the squad, sparking debate over the club’s financial stability in the highly competitive Turkish Süper Lig.
However, Özbek moved swiftly to reject the allegations, insisting the club remains financially disciplined and committed to fulfilling every contractual agreement with its players.
Speaking in comments reported by Habersarikirmizi, the Galatasaray chief described the rumours as fabricated and disrespectful to the professionalism of the team’s players.
According to him, the Istanbul giants would not be able to attract and retain world-class footballers if salaries were not paid promptly.
“Galatasaray is an elite team made up of world-class footballers. You can’t make these players play with just words,” Özbek said.
He added that any club that fails to pay players for months would struggle to keep them motivated or committed.
“If players don’t receive their salaries for two or three months, they won’t play. These kinds of reports are an insult to the professionalism of our players,” he stated.
Özbek further explained that the club honours all bonus and incentive clauses included in players’ contracts, stressing that Galatasaray has not defaulted on any financial commitment.
“Galatasaray has not defaulted on a single lira not a single lira overdue,” he declared.
The firm response comes at a time when financial management across several clubs in the Turkish top flight has come under increasing scrutiny.
Meanwhile, speculation around Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen and potential links with the Istanbul giants continues to attract attention, although Özbek’s comments suggest the club’s financial structure remains solid enough to meet the demands of top level players.
