Nigeria’s U-17 men’s national team, the Golden Eaglets, have completed the mandatory Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) screening ahead of the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Championship in Burkina Faso.

 BSN Sports gathered from a team official that the Eaglets have concluded the required medical and age-verification process, with a final squad of 26 players expected to be submitted ahead of the tournament.

 According to the official, the list will be forwarded next week as the team steps up preparations for the regional competition, scheduled to begin in October 2026.

 The Golden Eaglets have been in camp in Abuja for several weeks, with the technical crew continuing to assess the players and fine-tune the squad ahead of the championship.

 The 2026 WAFU B U-17 Championship will take place in Burkina Faso, with participating teams competing for the region’s two available qualification spots at the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

 Seven West African nations—Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Benin Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger Republic and Togo—are expected to feature in the tournament.

 The Golden Eaglets will be seeking to progress through the group stage and knockout rounds and secure one of the two WAFU B qualification tickets to the continental championship.

The record FIFA U-17 World Cup winner are yet to qualify for the AFCON and World Cup in recent times. Qualification for the Nations Cup will serve as pathway to returning to the World Cup.
