Golden Eaglets depart for China Invitational

Nigeria's Golden Eaglets will depart for China on Thursday night to participate in the 2026 China International Youth Football Tournament, as the five-time FIFA U-17 World Cup champions continue preparations for the upcoming WAFU B U17 Championship.

The four nation competition will take place in Yinchuan from July 5 to 11, with hosts China joined by Nigeria, Australia and Tanzania. All matches will be played at the Yinchuan Sports Centre Helanshan Stadium.

The Nigerian delegation comprises 20 players under the guidance of head coach Uwejamomere Eboboritse, who will be assisted by Kalli Mohammed Kachalla and Abdullahi Isa.

The tournament is hosted by the Chinese Football Association in partnership with the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Administration of Sport and the Yinchuan Municipal People's Government.

It is organised by the Ningxia Football Association in collaboration with the Yinchuan Sports Bureau and promoted by the China Football Industry Development Corporation.

For Nigeria, the tournament provides an important opportunity to fine-tune the squad ahead of the WAFU B U17 Championship scheduled for September.

The regional competition will serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, making the China outing a key part of the Golden Eaglets' preparations.
