Harrison Ebah's strike hands Plateau United dramatic away win over Remo Stars
Defending champions Remo Stars saw their struggles deepen on Matchday 24 after suffering a painful 2–1 defeat to Plateau United in Benin City.
The encounter at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium tilted in favour of the visitors midway through the first half when Jonathan Okechukwu fired Plateau United ahead in the 29th minute, giving the Peace Boys a deserved lead at the break.
Remo Stars showed greater urgency after the restart and were rewarded in the 63rd minute, as former Rivers United forward Albert Korvah drew the champions level and reignited hopes of a positive result.
However, just as the contest appeared destined for a draw, Harrison Ebah delivered a crushing blow in stoppage time. The midfielder unleashed a superb long-range strike that stunned Remo Stars and sealed Plateau United’s first away victory of the season.
The result further complicates Remo Stars’ campaign, leaving the reigning champions 18th on the NPFL table with 26 points and firmly entrenched in the relegation zone.
For Plateau United, the win underlined their resurgence under new head coach Gbenga Ogunbote. The Jos-based side extended their unbeaten run to five matches and climbed to 14th place on 30 points, easing relegation fears and highlighting their improved form.
