Historic triumph: CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe congratulates Flamingos on reaching FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Final

The President of the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), Dr. Patrice Motsepe, has extended his warmest congratulations to Nigeria’s Women’s U-17 National Team, the Flamingos, following their historic qualification for the Final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2026.

Dr. Motsepe commended the team, stating that the Flamingos have brought immense pride to Africa and CAF by achieving this unprecedented milestone.

Nigeria secured their spot in the final after a stunning 3-1 semi-final victory over South American powerhouse Brazil on Wednesday. The landmark win marks the first time an African nation has reached the final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Previously, the continent's best performances were third-place finishes by Ghana in 2012 and Nigeria in 2022, both of whom defeated Germany to claim bronze.

President Motsepe will travel to Rabat, Morocco, to attend the historic final, where the Flamingos will face off against Japan on Saturday, 7 November 2026, at 18:30 local time (GMT).
