Ikorodu City, Enyimba run riot as Wikki snatch crucial away win

Matchday 34 of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) delivered another round of drama and defining results, with Ikorodu City and Enyimba posting emphatic victories, while Wikki Tourists claimed a vital win on the road in the battle for survival.

At the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, Ikorodu City continued their impressive home form with a commanding 3-0 triumph over Kano Pillars. Joseph Arumala set the tone midway through the first half, netting his 12th league goal of the campaign to give the Oga Boys the lead. The hosts turned up the heat after the break, as Tosin Oyedokun and Abayomi Ayodeji found the back of the net to seal a comprehensive victory.

In Aba, Enyimba built on their hard-earned point away at Wikki Tourists with a ruthless 3-0 dismantling of Katsina United. Veteran forward Stanley Dimgba opened the scoring before Chidera Michael and Wonah Williams added further gloss to the scoreline. Katsina United had a chance to respond but Uche Collins squandered a second-half penalty, summing up a frustrating outing for the visitors.

The relegation battle took center stage in Yenagoa, where Wikki Tourists edged Bayelsa United 1-0 in a tense six-pointer. Bala Imamu’s decisive second-half strike secured maximum points for the visitors, a result that drags the Restoration Boys deeper into trouble, now sitting 17th with just four matches remaining.

In Ibadan, Shooting Stars were frustrated in their push for continental football, as they were held to a goalless draw by struggling Kwara United. A similar story unfolded in Minna, where second-placed Rangers were unable to break down Niger Tornadoes, settling for a stalemate that could dent their title charge.

There was late drama in Kano, as Barau FC came from behind to stun defending champions Remo Stars 2-1. Haruna Hadi had given the visitors the lead shortly after the hour mark, but Joseph Atule and Joseph Kemin turned the game around to hand the hosts a memorable victory.

Rivers United returned to the summit of the NPFL table courtesy of a narrow 1-0 win over Plateau United, with Wisdom Samuel providing the decisive moment.

In Owerri, Kun Khalifat boosted their survival hopes with a dominant 3-0 win against Warri Wolves. Mmesoma Nnorom opened the scoring before Uchechukwu Onuoha struck twice late on to wrap up a convincing performance.

The action had begun on Saturday, where Bendel Insurance edged Abia Warriors 1-0 thanks to Chinedu Nwosu’s effort just past the hour mark. Attention now turns to Maiduguri, where Nasarawa United will face Elkanemi Warriors in the final fixture of the matchday on Tuesday.
