Mobi Oparaku urges Super Eagles to show passion and dominate Tanzania in AFCON Qualifiers

Former Nigerian international Mobi Oparaku has urged Super Eagles players to give everything in their remaining matches of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, insisting that representing the country requires more than footballing ability.

Speaking in an interview with Brila FM, Oparaku stressed that the players must understand the responsibility that comes with wearing the national team jersey and show genuine passion for Nigeria.

With the next international break approaching, attention is already turning to Nigeria's back-to-back encounters against Tanzania's Taifa Stars in the qualifying campaign.

Oparaku believes the Super Eagles must approach the fixtures with determination and an aggressive mentality, stressing that the players should be motivated by the pride and expectations of Nigerians.

"The players have to go in there and demolish everything. It is not about playing football anymore. It is about you as a person and whosoever that is around there," he said.

The former defender explained that the players must look beyond their individual interests and consider the feelings of millions of Nigerians who expect them to represent the country with commitment.

"It is not about you or Nigeria but how my people going to feel. It is not about the game anymore," Oparaku added.

He further called on the players to recognise that their performances are not just about personal achievements but also about the hopes and emotions of supporters across the country.

"The players have to realise that it is not about them anymore because they are footballers and we are watching. They have to start thinking about us," he concluded.

Oparaku's comments come as the Super Eagles prepare for their upcoming AFCON qualifying assignments against Tanzania, with the former international expecting the team to demonstrate the commitment and fighting spirit required to secure positive results.
