Mutiu Adepoju backs home-based players to shine in U-23 Olympic Qualifiers
Former Nigeria international, Mutiu Adepoju, has urged home-based players invited to the country's U-23 national team to seize the opportunity to prove their worth ahead of the Olympic qualifying fixtures against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The former Super Eagles midfielder expressed confidence in the players' abilities, insisting that Nigeria has enough footballing talent to secure qualification for the next stage of the campaign.
With the home-based players currently in camp preparing for the qualifiers, Adepoju has backed them to make a strong impression and help the team achieve its objective.
"I believe that we have talents in Nigeria. I also believe this time the home-based players will show themselves and make sure that we qualify," he told Brila FM.
Adepoju further stressed the importance of securing qualification, noting that the team must first overcome the DRC hurdle before turning its attention to preparations for the Olympic Games.
"When they qualify, then we now prepare for the Olympics. They should play well to ensure that we qualify," he added.
