Moffi, Osimhen return as Super Eagles name squad fo crucial World Cup Qualifiers
OGC Nice striker Terem Moffi has been handed a recall to the Super Eagles squad ahead of this month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The 26-year-old forward last featured for Nigeria in June 2024, when the team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic in Abidjan. After a year sidelined with injuries that kept him out for both club and country, Moffi has regained full fitness and earned his way back into the national team. He has scored three goals in six appearances across competitions for his French club this season.
Also returning is Victor Osimhen, who missed last month’s tie against South Africa but proved his sharpness with a match-winning performance for Galatasaray against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League midweek. Despite lingering doubts over his fitness, he makes the squad.
The list also features the return of Semi Ajayi, Alhassan Yusuf, and Olakunle Olusegun, while Sevilla striker Akor Adams earns his maiden senior call-up, rewarding his strong start to the season in Spain.
Nigeria, currently three points adrift of South Africa and Benin in the group standings, face Lesotho and Benin Republic in the final round of qualifiers as they chase the sole automatic ticket to the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
