Morocco clinch historic FIFA U-20 World Cup title after win over Argentina
Morocco’s U-20 national team etched their name into football history on Monday night, defeating record winners Argentina 2–0 to claim their first-ever FIFA U-20 World Cup title at the Estadio Nacional, Santiago de Chile.
Star forward Yassir Zabiri was the hero of the night, scoring both goals in the first half to seal a commanding win for the young Atlas Lions.
Zabiri opened the scoring in the 12th minute before doubling Morocco’s advantage in the 29th minute, finishing off a fine assist from Othmane Maamma.
The North Africans delivered a near-perfect campaign, winning five of their six matches en route to the title — defeating powerhouses Brazil, Spain, France, the United States, South Korea, and now Argentina.
Their only setback came in the group stage, a narrow 1–0 loss to Mexico.
With this triumph, Morocco become only the second African nation — after Ghana — to lift the prestigious FIFA U-20 World Cup trophy, marking a monumental moment in African football history.
