NBBF Electoral Committee sets deadline for nomination forms

The Chairman of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Electoral Committee, Dr Lanre Glover, has confirmed that the deadline for candidates contesting positions on the federation’s board to submit their nomination forms is 2pm today, Thursday, October 8.

Glover stressed that the date and time are sacrosanct, describing the submission deadline as a key provision guiding the NBBF electoral process.

He urged all candidates to comply with the directive, warning that the committee would not entertain submissions made after the deadline.

According to Glover, a detailed timetable for the elections has already been made public, with stakeholders and members of the basketball community eagerly awaiting the polls that will usher in a new board to oversee the administration of the sport in Nigeria.

He reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to ensuring a seamless electoral process ahead of a credible election, which will culminate in the NBBF elective congress scheduled to take place in Abuja on October 15.

The Electoral Committee was approved at the federation’s Extraordinary Congress in Yola, Adamawa State, where 39 of the 44 delegates in attendance endorsed a panel comprising seasoned professionals, technocrats and experienced sports administrators.

In addition to Glover, the committee consists of Sr Femi Olugbile, Alhaji Sani Fema, Engr Priscilla Ngozi Iroaganachi, Major General David Lubo and Mallam Farouk Yarima, while Barrister Ichene Kalu serves as secretary.

The electoral timetable released by the committee is as follows:

Call for nominations: September 30

Deadline for submission of nominations: October 8 at 2pm

Publication of qualified candidates: October 10

Elective Congress: October 15 at 9am in Abuja
