NFF reappoints Manu Garba as Golden Eaglets coach as Moses Aduku gets Falconets nod
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee has approved the appointment of seasoned tactician Manu Garba as the new head coach of the U17 national team, the Golden Eaglets.
Garba, a familiar name in Nigerian football, famously led the Golden Eaglets to victory at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, Nigeria’s fourth title at that level. He has since returned to the role on two separate occasions, including guiding the team to the 2019 World Cup finals in Brazil.
In the same breath, the NFF also confirmed Moses Aduku as the new head coach of the U20 girls national team, the Falconets. Aduku replaces Coach Chris Danjuma and brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously managed top sides in the Nigeria Women’s Football League such as Bayelsa Queens and Edo Queens.
Aduku was also part of the Falconets' technical crew as assistant coach during their run to the quarter-finals of the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
Both coaches are expected to assume duties officially on Sunday, with key assignments already looming for their respective teams.
The Falconets will face Rwanda in a 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier in September, while the Golden Eaglets are gearing up for the WAFU B U17 Boys Championship, which Nigeria will host that same month.
