NPFL: Bendel Insurance hold Bayelsa in Yenegoa stalemate

Bendel Insurance FC continued their impressive run of grit and consistency under coach Kennedy Boboye, grinding out a hard-earned goalless draw against Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium on Sunday evening.

Since Boboye took charge in October last year, the Benin Arsenals have become one of the most difficult sides to break down in the Nigeria Premier Football League whether at home or on the road and Yenagoa was no exception.

Facing a Bayelsa United side desperate for points on their home turf, Bendel Insurance defended with discipline and purpose, matching their hosts’ intensity to ensure both teams shared the spoils in the Matchday 26 encounter.

It was the second time this season both sides would cancel each other out, following their first-round meeting in Benin earlier in 2025 which ended 1-1.

Before kickoff, Bayelsa United occupied 15th position on the NPFL table, while Bendel Insurance sat comfortably in sixth. The draw keeps the Benin-based club in sixth place with 38 points, further underlining their steady push in the league standings.

Bendel Insurance’s travelling run continues next weekend as they head to Lafia for another stern test, taking on title contenders Nasarawa United in a Matchday 27 clash scheduled for Sunday, February 22.
