Nigeria Customs, CNS Spikers Crowned Champions at 2025 CGC Volleyball Super Cup in Abuja

 

 Nigeria Customs Service and CNS Spikers emerged champions of the 2025 CGC Volleyball Super Cup after thrilling finales in the women’s and men’s categories respectively, bringing the elite tournament to a dramatic close in Abuja on Saturday.

 

In the women’s final, Nigeria Customs Service delivered a dominant performance, defeating COAS Spikers in straight sets (25–8, 25–15, 25–10) to claim the Super Cup title. Customs Spikers controlled proceedings from start to finish, showcasing superior blocking, serving, and tactical discipline to secure the championship.

 

Earlier in the women’s third-place playoff, CNS Spikers edged Vipers Spikers in a five-set thriller (24–26, 25–21, 25–16, 17–25, 15–13) to secure the bronze medal. The match was marked by momentum swings and late drama before CNS Spikers held their nerve in the decisive set.

 

In the men’s category, CNS Spikers clinched the Super Cup title after defeating their opponents 3–1 (21–25, 25–18, 25–23, 25–17) in a fiercely contested final. After dropping the opening set, CNS rallied strongly, tightening their defence and improving their attack efficiency to turn the match around and secure the trophy.

 

In the men’s third-place match, Nigeria Correctional Service Spikers defeated Defence Spikers 3–1 (25–22, 25–18, 23–25, 25–23) to claim the bronze medal. Correctional Service Spikers displayed composure in the fourth set to seal the victory after Defence Spikers had forced a brief comeback.

 

The 2025 CGC Volleyball Super Cup brought together top teams from the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League, serving as a showcase of elite club volleyball in the country. Officials and stakeholders hailed the tournament as a significant boost for the growth and visibility of volleyball in Nigeria.

 

With the conclusion of the Super Cup, attention now turns to preparations for the upcoming volleyball season, as teams look to build on their performances and strengthen their squads for domestic and continental competitions.
