Nigeria have bounced back in style, edging Nigeria A by two wickets in the reverse fixture of the Nigeria T20 Quadrangular Series at the TBS Cricket Oval in Lagos.

Chasing 113 for victory, Nigeria reached the target at 113 for eight in 19.1 overs, holding their nerve to seal the win with five balls to spare.

The result sees Nigeria avenge their earlier 19-run defeat to Nigeria A and close the gap between the two sides to just one point, with two matches remaining for each team.

Nigeria A, who had been unbeaten after three matches, were restricted to 112 runs in their 20 overs after being sent in to bat.

Despite the defeat, Nigeria A remain top of the standings, while Nigeria and Sierra Leone entered the round level on three points, with Ghana still searching for their first point.

The series is also serving as an important part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2028 T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Regional C Qualifier, scheduled for Abuja from October 18 to 25.

The Yellow Greens are currently in camp under High-Performance Manager Stephen Mangongo, who joined the Nigeria Cricket Federation in May on a three-year deal, replacing Steve Tikolo.

With the race tightening at the top, Nigeria will now look to build on Friday’s comeback as the Quadrangular Series enters its decisive stages.
