Nigeria unveils 15-man squad for 2026 T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers

The Nigeria Cricket Federation has announced a 15-man squad for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier, scheduled to take place in Zimbabwe from September 28 to October 4.

Captain Sylvester Okpe will lead the Yellow Greens, with his brother Isaac Okpe, Elijah Olaleye, Selim Salau, Sulaimon Runsewe, and Isaac Danladi also included after completing various overseas training programmes since July.

Okpe, Olaleye, and Salau have been active in Zimbabwe’s domestic league since August 2, gaining vital competitive experience ahead of the qualifiers. Runsewe and Danladi, meanwhile, honed their skills at a high-performance training camp in South Africa.

Also making the squad are Vincent Adewoye, Ridwan Kareem, Prosper Useni, Peter Aho, Jimoh Abdulrahman, and Solomon Chilemanya, while Chiemelie Udekwe, Adedeji Sesan, and Joshua Asia return to the fold after missing the team’s last outing at the Pearl of Africa tournament in Uganda.

Steve Tikolo, the former Kenya international, has been overseeing preparations at the team’s Lagos camp since July. Nigeria will face Namibia, Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, and Botswana in the final qualifying round, where two African nations will secure tickets to the 2026 T20 World Cup.

The Yellow Greens earned their place in this stage by topping Group B in last year’s African qualifier. Fifteen teams, including South Africa, have already sealed qualifications for the global showpiece, set for February–March 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.
