Norwegian court sentence Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga to six months in prison
Former Nigeria U-20 midfielder Daniel Daga has been sentenced to six months in prison following a ruling by the Nordmøre og Romsdal District Court in Norway.
According to reports from TV 2 Norway, the court found the Nigerian footballer guilty of committing a sexual act against a person without consent, with the verdict delivered earlier on Wednesday.
Beyond the custodial sentence, the court also ordered Daga to pay legal expenses estimated at about ₦1.45 million.
The midfielder joined Molde FK in January 2025 and made 17 appearances for the club, scoring three goals during his time with the Norwegian side.
However, the legal battle is not over yet. Daga’s lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, confirmed that the player will appeal the judgment, maintaining that the incident was consensual.
Bolstad told TV 2 that the footballer was disappointed by the decision and intends to challenge the ruling through the legal process.
