OKC wins first-ever NBA Championship

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander walked off the court and into a long-awaited moment—an NBA champion at last. With a 103–91 Game 7 win over the Indiana Pacers, the Oklahoma City Thunder are officially champions, claiming their first NBA title since relocating from Seattle in 2008.

Gilgeous-Alexander, who capped off his MVP season with 29 points and 12 assists, was named Finals MVP. Jalen Williams added 20 points, and Chet Holmgren had 18, as the young Thunder squad wrapped up an unforgettable season—tied for the third-most wins ever with 84 total.

The Pacers, who lost star guard Tyrese Haliburton early in the game to a suspected Achilles injury, led at halftime but couldn't hold off OKC’s second-half surge. Bennedict Mathurin had 24 points and 13 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough.

With this victory, the Thunder become the seventh different NBA champion in seven seasons, and the youngest team to win a title in nearly 50 years. A new banner will finally rise in Oklahoma City come October—and it’s one they built from the ground up.
