Rivers APC Urges FG to Act Against Sowore Over Remarks on Tinubu, Wike

PORT HARCOURT – The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Federal Government to take decisive action against Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 elections, over his recent comments about President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

In a statement on Wednesday, APC state chairman Tony Okocha described Sowore’s remarks as defamatory and inciting, warning they could undermine public trust and threaten democracy.

“Criticism is welcome in every democracy, but deliberate lies and propaganda disguised as activism are unacceptable,” Okocha said.

He accused Sowore of using his Sahara Reporters platform to publish falsehoods, noting that the activist had previously faced charges of forgery, false publication, and cybercrime.

Okocha also recalled Sowore’s 2019 #RevolutionNow protests, which he described as an attempted insurrection.

The APC chairman urged Nigerians to disregard the allegations against Tinubu and Wike, and instead focus on what he called the administration’s achievements, including economic reforms and ongoing infrastructure projects.

“The trillion-naira Lagos-Calabar expressway, once dismissed as impossible, is already on the fast track,” Okocha said.
