Senegal women's WAFCON 2026 preparations hit by hotel eviction
Senegal's preparations for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) have suffered a major setback after the national women's team was reportedly asked to leave their training camp hotel in Dakar over unpaid accommodation fees.
According to L'Observateur, the Lionesses of Teranga spent just two nights at the Axil Hotel before being required to vacate the premises. The report alleges that the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) failed to pay the hotel's accommodation bill.
The publication also claims that the hotel management is considering legal action against the federation, citing outstanding payments and financial losses linked to reservations that were reportedly left unpaid.
The incident has sparked concerns about the team's preparations for WAFCON 2026, with the disruption coming at a critical stage of their training programme ahead of the continental showpiece.
As of the time of publication, neither the Senegalese Football Federation nor the Axil Hotel had released an official statement addressing the reports.
