Tope Obideyi urges Shooting Stars fans to remain united despite poor NPFL run
The recent string of disappointing results recorded by Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) has understandably generated frustration and concern among the club’s supporters, but Oyo Pillar of Sports Tope Obideyi has appealed to fans of the Oluyole Warriors to remain calm, patient and steadfast in their support for the historic club.
Obideyi, a former player, acknowledged the disappointment surrounding the team’s current run but stressed that this is the period when genuine supporters are needed the most.
“For a club with such a rich history and an emotional connection with the people of Oyo State, every defeat comes with pain. The current run of poor results is certainly not what the players, management or supporters expected, and the disappointment of the fans is completely understandable.
“However, this is the moment when true supporters are needed the most.”
The former player admitted that the team must improve, noting that the performances and results have fallen below the standard expected of a club of 3SC’s stature.
“The team must do better. The performances and results have fallen below the standard expected of a club of 3SC’s standard, and there must be a collective determination to identify the problems, correct the mistakes and restore the confidence of the team,” he said.
Obideyi, however, urged supporters not to lose hope, stressing that football can change quickly when determination, unity and hard work come together.
“Football is a game of uncertainties. A team can struggle for a period, lose confidence and find itself on the wrong side of results. Yet, football has also shown repeatedly that fortunes can change very quickly when determination, unity and hard work come together.
“This is therefore an appeal to the wonderful supporters of Shooting Stars: Please don’t give up on the Oluyole Warriors.
“Don’t abandon the team because of a difficult spell. Don’t allow temporary disappointment to erase the glorious history and memories that 3SC has given its supporters over the years.”
He also called on the club’s supporters to encourage the players and provide constructive support for the technical crew and management during the difficult period.
“The players need encouragement. The technical crew needs constructive support. The management needs the cooperation of the supporters. And above all, the club needs everyone to remain united at this difficult period,” he said.
Obideyi equally had a message for the players, reminding them of the responsibility that comes with wearing the 3SC shirt.
“Wearing the 3SC shirt is a responsibility. Every time you step onto the pitch, remember the thousands of supporters who identify with the club, the history behind the badge and the pride of representing Ibadan and Oyo State.
“Fight for every ball. Fight for every point. Fight for the badge.
“There is still time to turn things around. The current situation should not be seen as the final chapter of the season, but as a challenge that must be confronted with courage, discipline, determination and a renewed sense of purpose.”
The Oyo Pillar of Sports further urged supporters to continue backing the team while demanding the commitment and performances expected from the club.
“To the 3SC supporters, your passion is the soul of the club. Continue to stand behind the team, but also demand the commitment, character and performances that the famous Oluyole Warriors shirt deserves.
“Better results will come. The Oluyole Warriors have stumbled, but they have not fallen.
“With unity, hard work and the right mentality, Shooting Stars can rediscover their confidence, turn their fortunes around and give their supporters reasons to smile again.
“Let us remain calm. Let us remain united. Let us keep believing. The Oluyole Warriors will bounce back.
“Up Shooting Stars! Up Oluyole Warriors! Up Oyo State!”
