There’s big news ahead of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco this year, CAF has officially doubled the prize money for the tournament winners.

The champions of WAFCON 2024 will now walk away with a massive USD 1 million a 100% increase, while the total prize pool for all participating teams has been raised to USD 3.475 million, a 45% increase from the last edition.

CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe says, " CAF is continuing with its commitment to the development and growth of women’s football in Africa.

Here’s a quick look at the prize breakdown:

 Winner: USD 1,000,000

Runner-up: USD 500,000

 Third place: USD 350,000

 Fourth place: USD 300,000

Quarter-finalists (4 teams): USD 200,000 each

 3rd place in group stage: USD 150,000

 4th place in group stage (3 teams): USD 125,000 each

That’s USD 3.475 million being invested directly into teams and a big win for the women’s game on the continent.
