Zulkifilu hat-trick fires Ranchers Bees to first NPFL win
Muhammad Zulkifilu announced his return to the NPFL in emphatic fashion, scoring a hat-trick as Ranchers Bees cruised to a commanding 4-0 victory over Abia Warriors on Monday.
The versatile forward, who missed Ranchers Bees’ opening-day 3-1 defeat to Ikorodu City, wasted no time making his presence felt on his return to the top flight, producing a memorable individual performance to inspire the Kaduna-based side to their first victory of the 2026/27 season.
Following their disappointing start in Lagos, Ranchers Bees temporarily relocated to Katsina, where they hosted Abia Warriors at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
Despite playing away from their usual home ground, the Bees quickly settled into the contest and dominated Imama Amapakabo’s side, who arrived in Katsina after a goalless draw against Kun Khalifat.
Abia Warriors appeared set to hold firm through the opening half, but Zulkifilu had other ideas.
The former Kano Pillars forward broke the deadlock before striking again just five minutes later to complete his brace and give Ranchers Bees a comfortable 2-0 advantage heading into the interval.
The second half offered little respite for the visitors as Ranchers Bees continued to press for more.
Shortly after the hour mark, Zulkifilu completed his hat-trick to cap a stunning return to the NPFL and put the result beyond doubt.
There was still time for another goal, with former Katsina United forward Jamilu Yusuf getting on the scoresheet in stoppage time to seal a comprehensive 4-0 victory.
The emphatic result lifts Ranchers Bees temporarily into the NPFL's top four after two matches, giving the newly promoted side a major confidence boost following their opening-day setback.
The Bees will now turn their attention to their next assignment, with a trip to Kano to face Barau FC scheduled for Sunday as they look to build on their impressive performance.
