The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has stepped up logistical preparations for two major continental football events scheduled to take place in Nigeria later this year.

The 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly will be held in Abuja, while CAF Awards 2026 will take place in Lagos, further underscoring Nigeria’s renewed prominence on the African football calendar.

As preparations gather momentum, CAF has opened a tender process seeking qualified and experienced service providers to support the successful organisation and delivery of both events.

The move is designed to ensure that the meetings and awards ceremony meet the continental body’s operational and service-delivery standards.

According to the tender notice, CAF is inviting suppliers with proven capacity and relevant experience to submit proposals for a range of services required for the events.

The areas covered include catering services, translation and interpretation, broadcasting facilities, transportation, private security, event design and creative services, event set-up and management, as well as event branding and production.

The tender process signals that planning for the Nigerian-hosted events has moved beyond the announcement stage, with CAF now putting the operational framework in place for the arrival and accommodation of football officials, delegates, guests, media and other stakeholders.

The 48th Ordinary General Assembly is expected to bring together CAF’s leadership, Member Association presidents and senior football administrators from across Africa for deliberations on key issues concerning the continent’s football development and governance.

The CAF Awards, meanwhile, will bring together some of the biggest names in African football, with players, coaches, administrators and other personalities expected to converge on Lagos for the prestigious ceremony.

Nigeria’s selection as host of the awards represents a major return for the country to the centre of CAF’s flagship events. Lagos was confirmed as the host city for the 2026 ceremony, with the newly transformed Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts identified as the venue.

The dual hosting opportunity also presents Nigeria with a platform to showcase its organisational capacity, hospitality and infrastructure to CAF’s wider football family.

With the tender process now underway, attention is expected to shift towards the selection of service providers and the coordination of the different operational components required to deliver the events successfully.
