2024 National Sports Festival concludes with thrilling closing ceremony

 

 

Just like the opening ceremony, Ogun State delivered a thrilling closing ceremony that will be on the minds of the different contingents when they return to their states after the 2024 National Sports Festival.

 

From great musical performances from Afrobeats stars to choreographs and many other events, it was a masterclass ceremony that started with actions on the track (the relays).

 

It's been an exciting 12 days in Abeokuta and one that will be talked about for a long time.  

 

Nigeria's senate president, Godswill Akpabio was present at the MKO Abiola Stadium for the closing ceremony of the National Sports Festival in Abeokuta. 

 

Akpabio represented the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the ceremony and in his speech, noted the commitment of the presidency to ensuring that sports remain a veritable tool that can unite all Nigerians. 

 

Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun at the closing ceremony of the National Sports Festival, thanked all the states for coming to Ogun and enjoying the state's hospitality. 

 

The closing ceremony happened to be on the same day that the Governor marked his 65th birthday, and he was surprised by the cabinet members and staff who got him a big cake (styled after the MKO stadium) to celebrate with. 

 

It was a double celebration for Ogun State, who have successfully hosted the whole nation for almost two weeks.

Dikko praised Ogun State for hosting "one of the best games in recent years..." and hoped that Enugu (in 2026) will take it a level higher when they host the nation next year.  

 

Some of the Nigerian music stars who performed at the closing ceremony of the 22nd National Sports Festival - Wande Coal, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1), and Waje with different performances and genres, but they all brought a lot of energy to the stage which kept the audience entertained.
