AACT 2026: Munir Tijani assures of Nigeria's readiness, government support
With 11 days remaining before the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), championship consultant Munir Tijjani has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s readiness to host the continental women’s golf championship, highlighting the support of government agencies and key stakeholders.
Tijjani said preparations were progressing steadily, with relevant institutions and partners working together to ensure a successful tournament that will showcase Nigeria’s organisational capacity and hospitality to participating African nations.
He acknowledged the contributions of government agencies and other stakeholders, noting that their support had strengthened coordination and facilitated arrangements for the championship.
The AACT consultant also assured participating countries and golfers that the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja would be ready to host the competition, expressing confidence in the venue ahead of the tournament’s final preparations.
The championship will bring together women golfers representing their respective countries to compete for continental honours, while providing an opportunity to promote women’s golf and strengthen sporting ties across Africa.
Nigeria will host the All Africa Challenge Trophy for the third time, having previously staged the competition in 1996 at Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos and in 2010 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja.
The 2026 edition is scheduled to take place from November 2 to 7 at the Abuja golf course, with approximately 30 African countries expected to participate.
With the slogan, “Uniting Africa Through the Greens,” the championship aims to foster unity among African nations through women’s golf while creating opportunities for cultural exchange, tourism and broader continental cooperation.
As the countdown continues, the Local Organising Committee and its partners are intensifying efforts to complete the necessary arrangements and ensure a memorable experience for participating golfers, officials and visitors.
With 11 days to go, Nigeria is preparing to welcome Africa to Abuja for a celebration of women’s golf and continental unity.
