CAF unveils African Nations League to elevate continental football
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially launched the African Nations League, a new annual competition aimed at showcasing the continent’s leading national teams and elite players.
The initiative is designed to provide a consistent, world-class platform for senior national teams, offering African footballers greater exposure and a regular stage to display their talents at the highest continental level.
Announcing the launch on Monday via its official X handle, CAF confirmed its commitment to hosting the competition every year. “CAF launches exciting new African Nations League and guarantees that CAF will host, every year, a world-class Senior National Team Competition in which the best African players will participate,” the statement read.
CAF said the competition will play a key role in strengthening African football by delivering more competitive fixtures, supporting player development, and deepening fan engagement across the continent.
The African Nations League also underlines CAF’s broader ambition to raise the global profile of African football while creating sustainable opportunities for players, national teams, and member associations.
