Nigerian forward Esther Okoronkwo has been named AFC Toronto’s Player of the Month for September, following a series of brilliant performances for the Canadian side.

The 2024 WAFCON Final Player of the Match was in sensational form throughout the month, scoring four goals and providing two assists in just four matches.

Okoronkwo found the net against Halifax Tides FC, bagged a brace and an assist versus Vancouver Rise FC, struck again in a second meeting with Halifax Tides, and created another goal against Ottawa Rapid FC, directly contributing to six goals in total.

Her sharp finishing, creativity, and relentless work rate have made her a key figure in AFC Toronto’s attack.

Since joining the club in February, the 28-year-old has steadily grown in influence, and this award is a fitting reward for her consistency and impact. With Okoronkwo in top form, AFC Toronto will fancy their chances as they head into the Northern Super League playoffs.
