FC Robo Queens stay perfect as NWFL Premiership Matchday five take centre stage

The 2025/26 NWFL Premiership resumed in thrilling fashion after the festive break, with Matchday Five delivering goals, drama, and standout individual performances across nine centres on Wednesday, 7 January 2026.

In Lagos, FC Robo Queens continued their flawless start to the season, grinding out a 1–0 victory over debutants Ahudiyannem Queens to maintain their 100 per cent record. Opeyemi Ajakaye struck within seconds of kick-off, and the early goal proved decisive as the Lagos side claimed a fifth consecutive win, the longest active winning streak in the league. Ahudiyannem, meanwhile, are still searching for their maiden NWFL Premiership victory.

Former champions Rivers Angels underlined their title credentials with an emphatic 3–0 away win over Adamawa Queens in Makwada. Forward Abasiofon Uwah was the star of the show, netting all three goals after the break to become the first player this season to register a hat-trick.

At Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Nasarawa Amazons handed Remo Stars Ladies their first defeat of the campaign, securing a narrow 1–0 victory. Ayatsea Hembafan’s early effort in the 11th minute, which struck the post before crossing the line, was enough to separate the sides in a tightly contested encounter.

Osun Babes also picked up valuable points on the road, claiming a 1–0 win against Confluence Queens in Iyahmo. Naimot Kazeem’s 62nd-minute strike compounded the hosts’ difficult start to the season and ensured maximum points for the visitors.

Elsewhere, Abia Angels enjoyed a comfortable afternoon with a 2–0 victory over Sunshine Queens, as Ekezie Onyedikachi and Winner David found the net. Delta Queens matched that scoreline in Asaba, seeing off Dannaz Ladies 2–0 thanks to goals from Amarachukwu Onuorah and Rita Tsebee.

Defending champions, Bayelsa Queens were pushed hard in a keenly contested South-South derby but edged Ibom Angels 2–1. First-half goals from Kesiena Ojiyovwi and Janet Akekeromowei gave Bayelsa a cushion, with Helen David’s second-half strike proving only a consolation for the visitors.

Ekiti Queens, playing at their adopted home ground in Abeokuta, secured a 1–0 win over Naija Ratels FC. Ismail Zainab’s 73rd-minute goal settled the contest and earned the hosts all three points.

The only game without goals came in Ibadan, where Pacesetter Queens and Heartland Queens shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
