Five Feared Dead in Diesel Tanker Crash in Ibadan
At least five people are feared dead following a road accident involving a diesel tanker and commercial vehicles along the Iwo Road–Ojoo Expressway in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday.
The crash occurred at Aduloju Bus Stop, opposite Dominion City, leaving the vehicles severely damaged and several occupants feared trapped in the wreckage.
Preliminary reports attributed to the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) indicated that the tanker lost control while travelling at high speed, with suspected brake failure believed to have contributed to the accident.
Officials of OYRTMA, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the police were reportedly deployed to the scene to coordinate rescue operations, manage traffic and clear the wreckage.
However, the exact number of fatalities, the identities of the victims and the number of injured persons had yet to be officially confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
Motorists using the busy Iwo Road–Ojoo corridor were urged to exercise caution as emergency operations continued.
