Flamingos' historic World Cup triumph dedicated to President Tinubu

Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, Acting General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has dedicated the Flamingos' stunning FIFA World Cup victory on Saturday night to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Speaking after the historic win, Dr. Ikpeme attributed the team's success to the administration's unwavering backing.

“This victory has been made possible by the support and special love shown to all the National Teams at every point in time by His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. The Father of the Nation has continued to be a father for all, and we are grateful for his love and encouragement all the time.”

The celebration follows President Tinubu’s directive to the National Sports Commission to promptly settle all outstanding bonuses and allowances owed to the players and officials.

Saturday's victory cemented a monumental milestone in global football, making Nigeria the only African nation to lift the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup trophy.

This feat further reinforces Nigeria’s football dominance, as the country remains the sole African nation to conquer the U-17 World Cup across both male and female categories. The male counterpart, the Golden Eaglets, proudly holds a record five world titles, having triumphed in 1985, 1993, 2007, 2013, and 2015.
