Flying Eagles set for semifinal clash with Niger at 2025 WAFU-B U-20 Boys Cup

Nigeria’s U20 national team, the Flying Eagles, will take on Niger in the first semifinal of the 2025 WAFU Zone B U20 Boys Cup on Sunday.

The match is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (Nigerian time) at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, Accra, Ghana.

Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s side topped Group A to book their place in the last four. After opening the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Ghana, the Flying Eagles bounced back in style, defeating Benin Republic to seal their semifinal berth in the three-team group.

Niger, meanwhile, navigated a competitive Group B. They edged Togo 1-0 in their first match but fell 1-0 to group winners Côte d’Ivoire in their second outing. A goalless draw against Burkina Faso in their final group game was enough to see them through in second place with four points.

In the second semifinal, Côte d’Ivoire will square off against hosts Ghana later that evening at 8:00 p.m. (Nigerian time). The Ivorians impressed with a perfect group stage run, winning all three matches to top Group B. Ghana finished as runners-up in Group A behind Nigeria.

Winners of both semifinals will advance to the tournament final, scheduled for Wednesday.
