Flying Eagles touch down in Cote D'Ivoire for WAFU-B U-20 Championship
Nigeria's Flying Eagles have arrived in Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire, as preparations intensify for the 2026 WAFU B U20 Championship, which gets underway this weekend.
The defending champions landed in Abidjan on Monday before travelling by road to Yamoussoukro, where they are camped at the Trio Corridor Hotel ahead of the regional tournament.
Abdu Maikaba's side will launch their title defence against arch-rivals Ghana's Black Satellites on Monday at the Lycée Scientifique in a highly anticipated rematch of the 2024 final.
Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-1 in Lomé to lift the previous WAFU B crown, and the seven-time African champions will be hoping for another winning start as they bid to successfully defend their title.
After the Ghana showdown, the Flying Eagles will face Togo's Sparrow Hawks on Thursday before concluding their group-stage campaign against Burkina Faso's Young Stallions on Sunday, August 2.
Maikaba has selected a 23-man squad blending home-based talents with a handful of overseas-based players, as Nigeria targets another strong outing in the regional competition.
