Kogi court strike out Ojo Olorunleke's divorce petition
A Customary Court sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State, has struck out the divorce petition filed by Nigerian goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo against his wife, Tosin Ojo, after ruling that it lacked the jurisdiction to hear the matter.
Delivering the ruling on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, the presiding judge held that the Certified True Copy of the couple’s marriage certificate confirmed they contracted a statutory marriage under the Marriage Act in 2016.
Based on that finding, the court ruled that only a court with the appropriate jurisdiction can entertain the divorce proceedings. The judge advised the petitioner to approach the proper court if he intends to continue with the case before striking out the suit.
The decision followed several adjournments and came after Olorunleke had earlier withdrawn a similar divorce petition from the Kogi State High Court.
The latest development leaves open the possibility of the former Enyimba and Abia Warriors goalkeeper filing a fresh petition began to deteriorate in 2024 after Tosin accused the footballer of engaging in an extramarital affair with a woman identified as Precious Daniel. Since then, the couple has lived separately after efforts before the appropriate court or exploring an alternative means of resolving the marital dispute.
Olorunleke Ojo and Tosin Ojo were married on November 11, 2016, and their union has produced two sons.
Their marriage reportedly began to deteriorate in 2024 after Tosin accused the footballer of engaging in an extramarital affair with a woman identified as Precious Daniel. Since then, the couple has lived separately after efforts by their families to reconcile them failed to resolve the dispute.
