Kwara United confirms Ashifat Suleiman as head coach
Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Kwara United, have confirmed the appointment of Ashifat Suleiman as the club’s substantive head coach until the end of the 2025/26 season, with an option for extension.
Suleiman, who had been serving in an interim capacity, was officially unveiled on Wednesday at the club’s office. The ceremony was attended by the club’s General Manager, Mallam Bashir Badawiy, who represented Chairman Kumbi Titiloye.
According to a statement from the club’s media department, Badawiy expressed the management’s confidence in Suleiman’s ability to lead the Harmony Boys to success, praising the positive impact he has made during his short stint as caretaker coach.
In his remarks, Coach Suleiman thanked the management for the trust placed in him and promised to work closely with his technical team to achieve the club’s objectives. He set his sights on retaining the Federation Cup and challenging for the league title this season.
Suleiman takes over from Tunde Sanni, who was relieved of his duties following Kwara United’s early exit from the CAF Confederation Cup and a home defeat to Abia Warriors in Ilorin.
Since stepping in as interim coach, Suleiman has overseen a mixed run of results, a loss to Kano Pillars, a draw against Wikki Tourists, and a morale-boosting 2–1 victory over Katsina United last weekend, which marked the team’s first win in four matches.
Kwara United currently sit 10th on the NPFL log with 12 points from nine games. The Harmony Boys will travel to Enugu to face Rangers on Matchday 10 as they aim to build momentum under their new boss.
