Morocco crowned CHAN 2024 champions after victory over Madagascar
Morocco have been crowned champions of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, edging Madagascar 3-2 in a thrilling final at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Madagascar struck first through Félicite Manohantsoa, before Youssef Mehri leveled for Morocco.
Toky Rakotondraibe restored Madagascar’s lead, but Morocco showed their resilience, with Oussama Lamlioui netting twice to seal the comeback and secure victory for the Atlas Lions.
The triumph marks Morocco’s third CHAN title, further cementing their dominance in the competition’s history.
They previously won the tournament in 2018 and 2020 against Nigeria and Guinea respectively.
On the three triumphs, the North Africans always have a player emerging as top goal scorer starting with Ayoub El Kaabi in 2018.
With this victory, Morocco continue to underline their strength in African football, combining technical quality, resilience, and winning mentality on the continental stage.
