NFF conducts integrity briefing for Flamingos ahead of 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has completed a mandatory integrity briefing for players and officials of the Flamingos ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy towards match manipulation and related corruption.
The briefing, conducted on Wednesday by the NFF Integrity Unit, was designed to equip all members of the Nigerian delegation with the knowledge to identify, resist and report attempts to manipulate matches during the tournament.
Players and officials were educated on the dangers of match manipulation, the tactics used by individuals seeking to influence match outcomes, and the potential consequences for anyone involved in such activities.
Key areas covered during the session included recognising approaches from match-fixers, the prohibition of betting and sharing inside information, confidential reporting channels available around the clock, and the disciplinary consequences of involvement in match-fixing.
The initiative forms part of the measures aimed at protecting the integrity of the competition and ensuring that all participants understand their responsibilities throughout the tournament.
The briefing also aligns with FIFA’s comprehensive competition monitoring plan for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which includes sophisticated betting-monitoring systems, intelligence sharing with law enforcement agencies and continuous integrity support throughout the competition.
Through the exercise, the NFF reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the Flamingos and ensuring that Nigeria’s participation in the tournament is guided by fair play, transparency and respect for the rules of the game.
