NIMC Reiterates Zero Tolerance for Misconduct, Clarifies that All NIN Data Modifications Are Online Only

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has noted a recent media report alleging that some enrolment agents in Abuja are collecting money from applicants in exchange for falsifying dates of birth.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Commission wishes to categorically state that all National Identification Number (NIN) data modifications can only be carried out online via the NIMC Self-Service Modification Portal at https://selfservicemodification.nimc.gov.ng.

No physical modifications are permitted under any circumstances. NIMC does not authorize agents to alter NIN records, and the Commission maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for extortion, falsification, or unethical conduct by staff or licensed Front-End Partners.

The public is strongly advised to follow the official modification process in line with statutory guidelines and approved fees. Any cases of extortion, misconduct or irregular practices should be reported immediately through NIMC’s official complaint channels:📞 +234-9-134959433, 08155015388; 📧 actu@nimc.gov.ng, ieu@nimc.gov.ng.

NIMC reassures Nigerians that the integrity of the National Identity Database remains secure and that the Commission continues to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust in the country’s identity management system.
