NSC reaffirms Chukwudi Dimkpa as substantive President of Karate Federation of Nigeria

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has reaffirmed Engr. (Dr.) Chukwudi Dimkpa as the duly recognised and substantive President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN), following requests for clarification from the Union of African Karate Federations (UFAK).

In an official letter dated November 2, 2026, and addressed to the UFAK President, the Commission restated its position on the leadership of Nigeria’s karate governing body.

The correspondence, with reference number NSC/FEAD/FED/KFN/CON/26/56, was issued in response to enquiries from UFAK dated June 15 and September 16, 2026, seeking clarification on the recognised leadership of the federation.

The NSC recalled that in its earlier response of June 26, 2026, it had informed the continental body that issues surrounding the federation’s administrative structure were under review, with a definitive position to be communicated after the process.

Following a comprehensive review of the National Sports Federation Elections held on October 25, 2025, the Commission has now formally confirmed Dimkpa’s position.

In paragraph four of the letter, the NSC stated: “Pursuant to a comprehensive review of the National Sports Federation Elections of 25th October 2025, the National Sports Commission hereby confirms that Mr Chukwudi Dimkpa remains the duly recognized and substantive President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria.”

The clarification provides an official resolution of the leadership question raised by UFAK and reinforces the Nigerian sports authority’s position on the federation’s administration.

The Commission also reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability and good governance, while expressing its desire to maintain cordial relations with UFAK in promoting karate development across Africa.

The letter was signed by Kabir Yusuf on behalf of the Chairman of the National Sports Commission.

The latest development is expected to provide a clearer basis for administrative stability, institutional coordination and international engagement within Nigerian karate.

It also highlights the importance of ensuring that the federation’s representation at national, continental and international events reflects the leadership recognised by the appropriate Nigerian sports authorities.

With the NSC’s position now formally communicated to UFAK, attention is expected to shift towards harmonising administrative records and strengthening cooperation among the federation, the continental body and other international karate institutions.

The federation’s focus remains on athlete development, technical excellence, institutional stability and improving Nigeria’s standing in international karate.
