Naija Ratels and Pacesetter Queens relegated from NWFL Premiership after Matchday 15 setbacks

Naija Ratels FC and Pacesetter Queens have been relegated from the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership following decisive results on Matchday 15. The defeats confirm their drop to the Championship.

Naija Ratels’ relegation was sealed after a 2–0 loss to Edo Queens in Benin City. Goals from Esther Inyang and Atume Doosuur ensured the Abuja-based side remained at the bottom of the table, with just five points from 14 matches — an insurmountable gap with only two games remaining.

This marks the end of Naija Ratels’ five-season stay in the top flight, having competed in the Premiership since their debut in the 2021/22 season.

Pacesetter Queens also faced relegation in their debut Premiership season, following a 2–0 defeat to Ekiti Queens in a South-West derby in Ado Ekiti. The Ibadan-based team struggled throughout the campaign and were unable to accumulate enough points to avoid the drop.

With two relegation spots allocated to Group A, the results of both matches mathematically confirmed the exit of Naija Ratels and Pacesetter Queens from the elite division.

Next season, both teams will compete in the NWFL Championship, aiming to regroup and push for an immediate return to the top tier.
