Nigeria’s Flamingos have been drawn alongside Ghana, Togo and Niger in Group B of the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Women’s Cup scheduled to take place in Côte d’Ivoire.

The regional tournament draw was unveiled on Thursday during a press conference held at the Stade du 04 Août, setting up an intriguing group-stage campaign for Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team.

The Flamingos will face familiar West African opponents in Ghana and Togo, while Niger completes a competitive four-team Group B.

Nigeria’s pairing with Ghana is expected to attract particular attention, given the longstanding rivalry between the two West African football powerhouses at various age-grade levels.

Hosts Côte d’Ivoire were placed in Group A alongside Burkina Faso and Benin.

The 2026 WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup is scheduled to run from September 15 to 28 in Côte d’Ivoire, with the participating teams battling for regional supremacy.

For the Flamingos, the competition provides another opportunity to test the next generation of Nigerian female football talents against some of the strongest teams in the WAFU B region.

Nigeria will be expected to mount a strong challenge for the title when the tournament gets underway, with the group-stage fixtures offering an early test of the team’s readiness and ambitions.

The competition is also expected to provide valuable international exposure for the young Nigerian players as they continue their development on the regional stage.
