Precious Dede appointed WAFU-B Women's Football Development Manager
Former Super Falcons goalkeeper Precious Dede has been appointed the Women’s Football Development Manager for the West Africa Football Union Zone B (WAFU-B).
Dede, who earned nearly 100 caps for Nigeria and once captained the Super Falcons, is celebrated as one of Africa’s most accomplished goalkeepers. A two-time African Women’s Championship (now WAFCON) winner, she featured in four FIFA Women’s World Cups and three Olympic Games. She also currently serves as Assistant Coach of the Nigeria U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos.
Her appointment comes as WAFU-B intensifies its long-term development agenda and refines its women’s football structure ahead of the next competitive cycle.
In her new role, Dede will lead efforts to expand grassroots pathways, elevate technical development, strengthen capacity-building initiatives, and help shape competition models across the sub-region.
WAFU-B confirmed that her tenure begins immediately, noting that her elite experience, leadership qualities, and deep understanding of the women’s game make her an ideal choice for the position.
The appointment marks another milestone for Nigerian football, underscoring the nation’s growing influence in shaping both technical and administrative roles within African football.
