Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie headline Justine Madugu's Super Falcons roster for Cameroon clash
Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has unveiled a strong 25-player squad for Nigeria’s upcoming international friendly matches against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses in Yaoundé, as preparations intensify for the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade leads the list, alongside first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and attacking options Esther Okoronkwo and Chinwendu Ihezuo. The fixtures will serve as a key test for the nine-time African champions ahead of the continental showpiece in Morocco.
A major highlight of the squad is the return of experienced midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene, who earns a recall after a two-year absence. US-based forward Gift Monday also makes her way back into the fold, having missed Nigeria’s triumphant WAFCON campaign in Morocco last year.
There are fresh faces as well. England-based goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor receives her first-ever Super Falcons call-up, while defender Chidinma Okeke returns to the squad after time away. Tanzania-based midfielder Precious Christopher is also in line for her maiden appearance at senior international level.
Several established names retain their places, including defenders Osinachi Ohale, Michelle Alozie, Oluwatosin Demehin and Ashleigh Plumptre; midfielders Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe, Deborah Abiodun and Jennifer Echegini; and forwards Rinsola Babajide and Folashade Ijamilusi.
The first friendly against Cameroon will take place on Saturday, 28 February, with the second encounter scheduled for Tuesday, 3 March, both in Yaoundé.
The 13th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted by Morocco from 17 March to 3 April. The stakes are high, with all four semi-finalists set to qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
